Arterial Blood Supply to the Brain

The goal of this illustration is to create an eductional piece that educates the viewers on the location of the arteries that innervate the brain both in perspective to the brain and the skull.

After researching the anatomy of the arteries in relations to the brain and skull, and references such as 3D maquette, plastic models, and real skulls were used, did pencil finally hit paper and sketches were created. The illustration was rendered via digital painting.

Studying the Masters: Learning from Max Brödel's Heart Sketch

Through the act of replication, one can observe more finely a master's work. By studying Max Brödel's "Winternitz-Pulmonary Anuersym" sketch I was able to intensely observe his use of line and tone to replicate the different textures found on a human heart.
